Hip Pain … Can You Do Anything About It?

Pain is a truly complex topic. Anyone who has an all-encompassing belief that they know how to fix every pain, is, frankly, full of shit. Sure, pills and opioids will do it … but in 35 years of doing this, I’ve never met anyone who would preferentially choose this path.
This is essential to pain management. You need to learn how to do it yourself. Traditionally, treatments are administered to you by someone doing something to you. They don’t work, we now know they are ineffective long term, numerous scientific studies show this.

Cleverer people than me state that we know more about deepest space than we do about the human body. So, being as complex as it is, with so many variables that can induce and prolong pain, it is essential that we get to know you as well as is possible … your history of pain, relationship with pain, injury, lifestyle, activity levels, emotional triggers, nutrition habits, vices and so on. Keep back what you want to keep back of course, but the better picture we have, the better we can put a programme in place to overcome pain. The programme isn’t a one-time thing … it evolves (no extras).
Some causes of pain are simple, some are not.

So, learning how to manage and hopefully overcome pain, is where it’s at. So, where do we come into this?
We teach you how pain works, what the brain is doing and why. Understanding this is a key component (just one, but a key one). We teach you how pain isn’t necessarily going to cause you harm (we evaluate you of course). We teach you new movement patterns, practice targeted/effective exercises, simple life hacks and ways to go about your daily life that just make things easier.
So can you do anything about it? The answer is most definitely, yes. Banishing pain is obviously the aim, and in many cases this is do-able. Some cases it’s not, but the techniques we can teach will almost certainly make things at the very least just a little easier. Nobody wants to take drugs if they don’t have to.
Why Use a Sports Scientist?
Sports Scientists are trained to a significantly greater degree than Personal Trainers in human physiology. There are some good Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors, but far too often, too many are prescribing unproven, ineffective treatments. It baffles.
Modern science and a deep understanding of the body is of paramount importance so that you receive the safest, best advice and effective personalised programming.
